In Delhi, For New Year

Amisha Patel, Arjun Rampal, DJ Aqueel and Hard Kaur - the life of Mumbai's party scene will be in Delhi this New Year's eve. As life in Mumbai struggles to come back to normal, most year-end parties have been put on hold.

So, the party regulars, DJs and Bollywood actors are moving base to the capital for December 31.

A source close to Amisha said, "Kanav (her boyfriend) wanted to throw a party for Amisha and she was keen to have it in Mumbai. But Mumbai is not that happening this year and so, Kanav suggested Delhi instead."

Also likely to be in town are Meher and Arjun Rampal, Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap along with Abhay Deol. A friend close to Abhay said, "His last film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! was based in Delhi, as will be his next film Dev D. And so, they wanted to party in Delhi."

Also making a beeline for Delhi are DJs for whom this season is professionally critical. One of India's most celebrated DJs, DJ Aqeel is expected to play at Manre on Christmas Eve. Hard Kaur, of Main Tulli Ho Gayi fame, will be seen at Elevate on New Year's Eve, and Mumbai-based duo Kilogram will be seen at the same venue on Christmas Eve.

Explaining the situation, DJ Alia said, "Delhi is definitely in a better situation than Mumbai. Because of the terror attacks, most of the big events are getting cancelled in Mumbai. The effect is also on Goa; as a result, the obvious choice for DJs has to be either Delhi or Bangalore." However, she adds, "Mumbai will soon be back with its big parties."

DJ Kary, a freelancer, said, "My gig in Mumbai for Christmas eve got cancelled because the sponsors thought large gatherings might be unsafe. There is hardly any work. Infact most of freelancers usually go to Mumbai and Goa but this time they don't have anything."

DJ Preet says the season is "thanda". "Besides Delhi, small towns all over the country are attracting DJs."
